Donald Ralph Cross, Sr.

Donald Ralph Cross, Sr., 83 of Kingwood, WV passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Kingwood HealthCare Center with family by his side. He was born on April 26, 1940 in Smithburg, Doddridge County, son of the late Norman Bernard and Wilda Gay (Tennant) Cross. Donald graduated from Doddridge County High School, Class of 1958 and attended Salem College. Donald served and retired from the United States Navy during Vietnam with over twenty plus years of service. He then worked and retired from BFS Service Station in Kingwood with thirty years of service. He then worked a few years at the Dollar Tree in Kingwood. He enjoyed walking, reading, watching TV, bowling and playing golf. Donald was a member of Living Faith Church, Howesville. Donald is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Velma Marcena (Rhodes) Cross whom he married on November 25, 1961; three sons, Donald Ralph Cross Jr, Kingwood, Sean Christopher Cross, Howesville, Andrew Oliver Cross, Forester, MI; two grandchildren, Donald Cross III and Timothy Cross; two great-grandchildren, Amberielle and Lacey; two brothers, Richard “Rick” Cross and Cassie, Salem, Joe Cross, Cheat Lake; one sister, Patricia McMillan and Richard, Crystal Lake; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Maria Cross; one brother, Ronald Cross. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave, Newburg, WV on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Linn Rhodes and Pastor Michelle Kennedy officiating. Graveside Service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm with full military honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard.
