James Weaver Obituary

James Roy Weaver of Arthurdale,  formerly of Newburg, disappeared January 14, 2024. On March 27th, his body was recovered from the Monongahela River.

James was born July 27, 1975.  He had  a passion for the outdoors that began with childhood camping trips along the Cheat River and father/son fishing trips he and his Dad took with Charlie and Rocky Hebb.  That love of the woods continued throughout his worklife. His career in tree work began with his Dad and Uncle Ben at Weaver Brother's Logging. During his career he worked for multiple companies and individuals including Arnold's Tree Service,  Greg Miller, Brian Parks, Laborers Local 379, Bob Hall, Doug Hilling and more. His skills were recognized while working in the DC area and he was hired on the spot by the Department of the Navy. They sent him and Rick Bowers on the adventure of a lifetime aboard the USNS Vice Admiral K.R. Wheeler to Asia to trim trees on U.S. bases.

As children James and Sherry rode horses often, their favorite past time. Occasionally joined by friends. His heart horse was BillyRay. When he wasn't riding horses he was playing outside riding bikes, climbing trees and spending time in the "hideout" in the woods with the childhood friends. That large rock was the favorite spot to eat PB&J on a hot summer day.  James was a self-taught artist who enjoyed sketching, writing poetry and songs, and playing the guitar.  He received his Mother's ear for music and his guitars were his most beloved worldly possessions.

James attended the Solid Rock Church in Newburg where he gave his life to the Lord in 2023. It was there that he actively participated in gathering donations for the homeless and the less fortunate, a plight near and dear his heart.

James is survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Goss; father, John Randal Weaver (Catherine); mother, Patsy Lyons Hall (Paul); sister, Sherry Feather Neyman (Teddy); son, Jerrid Ray Weaver; bonus daughter, Jessica Holt (Tim); neices, Sarah Feather (Bryce), Jessie Feather (Easton), Sabra Feather,  Amber Barnes (Aaron) and Krista Neyman (Cody); granddaughter,  Journie Rae Weaver; bonus granddaughter, Katherine; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

James will be cremated and visitation will be held at the Bolyard Funeral Home, Newburg WV from 2-4 April 20, 2024 with a Celebration of Life at 4pm.
