Dale Matlick Obituary

Dale Wayne Matlick, 87 of Fellowsville, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born May 1, 1932 in Kasson, WV, son of the late Charles Nelson Jr and Audrey Genevieve Wolfe Matlick. Dale graduated from Fellowsville High School Class of 1950 where he played basketball and baseball. He worked for the Labor’s Local Union #379 for over fifteen years. He retired from Mon Power at the Fort Martin Power Station with thirty plus years of service. Dale was co-owner of Matlick’s Feed with his brother and was sole owner when he retired. Dale enjoyed gardening. He was an avid WVU Football and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Dale is survived by three daughters, Diane Lee and Larry, Deland, FL, Darlene Nestor and Mike, Grafton, Debra Kay Knotts, Grafton; he was known as “Pappaw Dale” to his eight grandchildren, Shanna Bosko and Scott, Kristen Sorondo and Victor, Angie Cadier and Danny, Chris Nestor and Stephanie, Todd Nestor and Christina, Ashley Nestor, Scott Knotts and Rhiannon, Keith Knotts and Debra A; eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Lyle Matlick, New Philadelphia, OH, Thomas Matlick and Mildred, Moatsville, Eugene Matlick and Judy, Newburg, Glenn Matlick and Betty, Newburg; two sisters, Sharon Ramsey and Terrell, Newburg, Deloris Goodwin and John, Thornton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Marie Sigley Duckworth; one son-in-law, Larry Truman Knotts: four sisters in infancy, Irma, Wilda, Wilma and Karen, one sister-in-law, Patsy Matlick. A special thank you to his loving caregivers, Donna, Sue, Jean, Rosey, Nancy, Michaela, and Rhiannon. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Friday, August 23, 2019 from  2-8PM, and Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10AM until time of service at 12 Noon with Rev. David Spence. Interment will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery.
