Daniel David Sharps, 74 of Newburg, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Mon General Hospital with family by his side. He was born on July 12, 1943 in Thornton, son of the late John H and Geraldine M Dadisman Sharps. Dan was a US Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam War with twenty years of service. He also retired from the Preston County Board of Education as a custodian. He was a member of the Christian Evangelical Church where he was a choir member and loved to be at the door greeting and welcoming everyone. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a loving husband, dad, granddad, brother and uncle. Dan is survived by his loving wife of fifty one years, Linda S King Sharps, one daughter, Melinda Anderson and husband Robert, Tunnelton; two grandchildren, Bobby and Karah; one sister, Carmita Sharps, Newburg; three brothers, Jonathan Sharps and Clara, Scotch Hill, Ronald Sharps and wife Patricia, Greenville, SC; Loyde Sharps and Lyne, Crossville, TN; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 2-8 pm, and at the Christian Evangelical Church at Birdscreek on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 10 am until time of service at 11am with the Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton. Military graveside service will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post#3081, the American Legion Taylor County Post#12, Central WV DAV Chapter 24, and their auxiliaries, and the US Navy.
