Mary Rose Swain, 71 of Kingwood, WV passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born October 1, 1946 in Independence, daughter of the late Hurshel Hasko and Anna Virginia Smith Hovatter. Mary graduated from Newburg High School. She worked for the Federal Government in DC, and ICT Group in Morgantown, and was volunteer EMT for Mountaineer Ambulance. She loved reading, crocheting, sewing, cooking, playing cards and coloring. Mary is survived by two daughters, Anna Ruth Swain and companion, Robert Sorrick, Reynoldsville, Melinda “Susi” Swain, Kingwood; four grandchildren, Keanna King, Robert Cheshire, Christopher Cheshire and Darcy Swain-Shaffer; two brothers, William Charles Hovatter and wife Sarah, Independence, Jeffrey Lynn Hovatter, Augusta, WV; two sisters, Margaret Ann Ervin and husband Byron, Marcia Elaine Kelley and husband Warren, all from Independence; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Swain; two sisters, Martha Sifer and Melinda Howsare. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 2pm until time of service at 7pm.
