Rachel Elizabeth Hovatter, 87 of Terra Alta, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 with family by her side. She was born on May 6, 1930 in Terra Alta, daughter of the late James Chester Metheny and Ida Marie Trout Metheny May. Rachel worked as a greeter at Ames with four years, dishwasher at Preston County Inn for 10 years and Country Club in Oakland. Rachel is survived by six children; Maxine Miller, Tunnelton, Robert Hovatter and Mary, Rowlesburg, Shirley Cook, Terra Alta, Kenny Hovatter and Deb, Kingwood, Helen Knotts and Mark, Terra Alta, Jack Hovatter and Anna, Eglon; fifteen grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 31 great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Zane Blair Hovatter Sr, one son, Zane Blair Hovatter Jr, one step-grandson, Matthew Knotts, four sisters, Mary Hockaday, Edith Trout, Sadie Wireman and Virginai Ruth Sines; three brothers, John Metheny, Richard “Dick” Mehteny and James Metheny.
