Richard L “Dick” Maxwell, 96 of Grand Island, FL formerly of Newburg, WV, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Silver Lake Assisted Living in Leesburg, FL. He was born April 3, 1921 in Star City, Morgantown, son of the late Harlan Creed and Hattie Mae Jasper Maxwell. Dick served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the Preston County Board of Education in the maintenance department. Dick is survived by his loving wife whom he married on May 14, 1943, Edna Rae DeMoss Maxwell; one son, Richard A Maxwell and wife Eleanor, Grand Island, FL; two granddaughters, Michelle Berardinelli and husband, Joe, Mobile AL and Diana Marl and husband John, Sorrento, FL; one great grandson, Landon Marl; and several nieces and nephew. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Per his request, he was cremated and a memorial service will be held at the WV National Cemetery at a later date. Bolyard Funeral Home is handling the arrangement for the Maxwell Family.
