NUTTER FORT: Ronald (Sarge) Atkins, 61, of Ohio Avenue, died 12:30 P.M. Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born January 17, 1945 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Stuart Raymond and Mildred Arvilla Lewis Dean Atkins. Surviving are four brothers, Alex Kerns, Texas, Scott Atkins, New York, Donald Kerns, North Carolina and Thomas Atkins of Winchester, Va.; one sister, Mrs. James (Connie) Poling, Rome, GA and also by his companion, Deanna Jowers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Kerns and Gary Kerns. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy, and the U. S. Air Force, being decorated three times for Valor during the Vietnam War. Friends may call at the Greathouse Funeral Home, Nutter Fort, Thursday, 5-9 p.m. Following the funeral service at the Funeral Home at 12 noon Friday, Ronald Will be taken the West Virginia National Cemetery at Pruntytown to receive full Military Burial Honors, accorded by the Grafton VFW and American Legion A Greathouse Service.
