Alden "Blaine" Jennings, Sr. Obituary

Alden “Blaine” Jennings, Sr., 73 of Scotch Hill, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Preston Memorial Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. Blaine, as he was known to most of the world, was born on December 3, 1947 at Evansville, son of the late Maurice Jennings and Doris A. Mace Jennings. Blaine graduated from Fellowsville High School, was employed by Mangus Coal, and was an entrepreneur who founded and owned both Rebekah Coal, and West Virginia Lime Service. He enjoyed farming, collecting antique tractors, raising cattle, and reading military history. Blaine had a green thumb which resulted in extensive flower gardens and vegetable gardens. He also had a collection of pre-historic arrowheads that he found in his mother’s back yard. But most of all, Blaine loved babies, dogs, and his family. He had a big heart and gave of himself generously to everyone that he met. He will be missed terribly by his family and friends. He was a member of the Scotch Hill Bethel Church and Aurora Lodge #43 AF & AM Masonic Lodge. He had many special friends, and regularly presided over the gang at the Cliff Rock Inn in Fellowsville where he felt the companionship and fellowship of his family and community.  Blaine is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Elnora L “Cornwell” Jennings; two sons, Alden “BJ” Blaine Jennings Jr and Anita, Thornton, Andrew “Andy” Lawrence Jennings and Stephanie, Garards Fort, PA; one daughter, Amanda “Bekky” Rebekah Alborn and John, Evansville; He was known fondly as “Pap” by six grandchildren, Lucas Blaine Jennings, Ethan Lawrence Alborn, Jacob Leon Jennings, Danielle Ileen Jennings, Sophia Grace Jennings and Josie Elizabeth Jennings; two brothers, Jesse Jennings and wife Joyce, Evansville, Dorris R “Buck” Jennings and Evelyn, Evansville; two brother-in-laws, Johnny Cornwell, Independence, Rickie Cornwell and Linda, Independence; one sister-in-law, Melanie Goff and Eugene, Independence; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Blaine was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph D Jennings, Maurice “Foster” Jennings Jr., and Timothy Nathan Jennings. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 2:00pm until time of service at 7:30PM with John Burns officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethel Community Building P.O. Box 151 Newburg, WV 26410. Online condolences can be made at www.bolyardfuneralhomewv.com.
