Arthur Burdette Taylor, 74, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at his home in Martinsburg, WV. Born in Newburg, WV on October 9, 1947, to Oscar Ray Taylor and Vonda Cornelia Shay, Art graduated from Fellowsville High School in Preston County, WV, where he was active in band and sports. He received an associate degree in communications from DeVry University and was a member of the Army National Guard stationed at Fort Bragg for ten years. He was an active member of the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club throughout most of his life. He moved to Martinsburg, WV and began working in the pressroom of The Martinsburg Journal in 1978. Over the years, he became the pressroom manager, then the composing manager. He retired from The Journal as the Director of Production in the early 2000’s. Throughout his life, Art enjoyed spending time restoring vintage cars, watching NASCAR races, and golfing. He was a skilled mechanic and was always ready to help family and friends with their cars and homes. During his retirement, Art enjoyed spending time cooking and watching movies with his wife, golfing with his sons, and helping his daughter renovate her house. He is survived by his wife, Connie Caton; one son, Anthony Taylor, his wife Sandra, and daughters Kristin and Hannah; one daughter, Kimberly Taylor Halmi, her husband James, and children Timothy, Nadia, and Lillia; one stepson, Cory Raposa, and his daughter, Marloe; one stepdaughter, Brandy Jones, her husband Michael, son Jalyn, and daughters Talyn and Amera; two sisters, Sue Cassiday and Janet Schaffer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Richard Taylor. Services will be at Shay’s Chapel UMC in Newburg, WV on Saturday June 25, 2022. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until time of service at 1:00 at Shay’s Chapel UMC on York’s Run Road, Newburg WV 26410. Interment will be at Shay's Chapel Cemetery.
