Benjamin “Ralph” Phillips, 83 of Fellowsville, WV, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1942 in Tunnelton, son of the late Benjamin Waldo Phillips and Betty Ruth (Pride) Phillips. Ralph retired as a coal miner with 34 ½ years, last working for Loverage Mines and previously for Island Creek and CONSOL. He enjoyed being outdoors, farming, chasing cows, hunting and fishing with the grandkids. Ralph was always a hard worker and loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Lee (Wilson) Phillips; three sons, Ralph Phillips (Julie) Newburg, Richie Phillips (Tammy) Thornton, Derek Phillips (Amy) Philippi; adopted son, Scotty Carder (Danielle), Thornton; eight grandchildren, Whitney Phillips, Nick Phillips (Haeley), Chelsea Phillips (Chad), Haley Phillips (Logan), Markus Carder, Julie Phillips, Kylie Phillips and Charlie Carder; six great-grandchildren, Temperance, Rydely, Lincoln, Maverick, Amiyah and Dominic; two sisters, Norma Shay, Fellowsville, Deloris Kacin, Grafton; three brothers, Donald Phillips (Patty), Belington, Ronald Phillips (Nina), Marquess, Camden Phillips (Peggy), Thornton; one stepbrother, Evert Austin, Youngsville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one brother, Tyrone Phillips; one sister, Carrie Phillips; one brother in infancy; three sisters in infancy; stepmother, Esther (Bolyard) Phillips; two stepbrothers, Edward Bolyard and Norman Austin. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1:00-6:00 pm and on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 pm with the Rev.
