Bertie Mae (Zirkle) Stone

Bertie Mae (Zirkle) Stone, 89 of Scotch Hill Community, Newburg, WV passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at her daughters’ residence with family by her side. She was born on September 26, 1936 at home in Rich Mountain Battlefield in Mabie, WV (Randoloph County), daughter of the late Daniel B and Emily J (Shreve) Zirkle. Bertie enjoyed camping, listening to music and the trading post, having family reunions and functions and going square dancing with Bud. She loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bertie is survived by four children, Sheila J (Ringer) Braddock (Joseph), Independence, Kenneth D Stone (Sherry), Newburg, Wilma Summers  (companion Mark Jackson), Thornton, Dennis J Stone (Carolyn), Scotch Hill; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Stone, Philippi; ten grandchildren, Delbert  (companion April), Amy (companion Jimmy), Melissa (Jerry), Jeffery (Candice), Amanda (Ronnie), KW (Ginny), Jesse (companion) Jessica, Cody (Brooke), Krystle (Rennes), Cory (Sara); twenty great grandchildren, Matthew, Conner, Sabrina, Kaitlin, Austin, Stefen, Savanna, Mitchell, Clayton, Hannah, Ryan, Braylynn, Brinlee, Amya, Madsion, Zoe, Leandra, Penelope, Cohen and Eva; and three great-great grandchildren, Waylon, Georgy and Michael Ray; one sister, Emma Jean Simmons, Mabie, WV; four brothers, Loyd Jack Zirkle, Medina, OH, Raymond Neal Zirkle, Las Vegas, NE, Junior Leon Zirkle, Mabie, WV, James L Zirkle, Elkins, WV;  and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bertie is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Bud” Ray Stone; one son, Danny Stone; one daughter-in-law, Loretta Stone, four sisters, Nellie M Carver, Edith Virginia Zirkle, Betty Sturdivent and Artie Shiffett; two brothers, Andrew Zirkle and Daniel Eddie Zirkle. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 4:00 pm with Pastor Eddie Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Israel Cemetery.
