Clifford Smith Obituary

Clifford Hunter Smith, 93, of Newburg, WV passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Preston Memorial Hospital with family by his side. Clifford was born December 13, 1927, in Kingwood, WV, the son of the late Roy and Alice Smith. He was a coal miner by trade and served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Clifford enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting ginseng, riding ATV’s, working puzzles, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with his family. Clifford is survived by three daughters: Sandy (Jim) Chambers of Chillicothe, OH, Billie (Jim) Louk of Tunnelton, WV, and Carolyn (Roger) Riggs of Rowlesburg, WV; nine grandchildren, Sam (Misty) McCrobie, Donald “Banjo” (Michele) McCrobie, Janet McCrobie and significant other William “Bill” Corbin, Greg (Mary Ellen) Chambers, Eric (Jennifer) Chambers, Cindy Louk (fiancé Chris Rogers), Steven (Angela) Louk, Sherri (Jason) Moore, Heather Riggs (fiancé Kris Pysell);  thirteen great grandchildren; Dakota McCrobie, Nakisha Bash (Brian), Dylan McCrobie, Emma Chambers, Ryan Chambers, Noah Chambers, Samantha Louk, Brittany Louk (fiancé JR Collins), David Louk, Alisa Louk, Shayla Louk, Madeline Moore, and McKinley Moore; and four great-great grandchildren; Abigale Hoover, Paige Bash, Ivory Louk, and Bryer Louk. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is also survived by two sisters: Virginia Fulk and Izetta Goff, one sister-in-law: Margaret Smith, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Evelyn (Burke) Smith, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage before her passing in 2014, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill McCrobie, one brother, Dayton Smith, two brothers-in-law, Floyd Fulk Sr and Bob Goff, and one great-great granddaughter, Braylen Louk. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and nurses of Preston Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 2-7 pm and Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 10am until time of service at 12:00 noon with Rev.
