Delmer Hershman Obituary

Delmer Ray Hershman, 80, of Evansville, passed peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022 at his residence with family by his side. He loved bringing joy and laughter to others and playing pranks on his grandkids and never really knew a stranger. Delmer loved talking to people. He graduated from Fellowsville High School, Class of 1961. Delmer served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a business manager for the Laborers Local Union #379 in Morgantown. Delmer was a member of the Evansville United Methodist Church and keeper of the Flag at Church, Aurora Lodge #43 A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge in Newburg, Life Member Knights of Pythias, Veterans of Foreign War Post 2345, Tunnelton, President of the WV Draft Horse and Mule Association. He enjoyed doing many parades such as Memorial Day at Grafton with the Caisson of Unknown Soldier, Barbour County Senior and Wheelchair Patients and Third Grade Students, Strawberry Festival at Buckhannon, Morgantown and Kingwood Buckwheat Festival, Hopemont residents, WVU Children Hospital with horses, weddings and funerals.  Delmer is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Wolfe Hershman whom he married on August 31, 1962; three children, Chad and Robyn, Jason and Becky and Tasha Hamilton all of Evansville; ten grandchildren, Cassandra, Montana, Wyatt, Gracie, Samantha, MacKenzie, Ryan, Jadyn, Jimmy and Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Amy, Hayley, Bailey and Aubrey.  Family and Friends will be received at Evansville United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 2pm-8pm and Friday, March 18, 2022 from 9am until time of service at 11am with Reverend Scott Cress officiating. Interment will follow at the Evansville Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial donation can be made to Evansville United Methodist Church 1977 South Evansville Pike Thornton, WV.
