Donald Michael Post, 74, of Fellowsville, West Virginia, passed away on September 15, 2024. Born on January 7, 1950 in Philippi, West Virginia, he was a loving son of Gertrude "Jerry" Nestor Jones and stepson of Donald Lee Jones.
Don was hard working and dedicated. After receiving his bachelor's degree from Alderson-Broaddus University, he was employed by Preston County Board of Education for 53 years. During his tenure in Preston County, Don taught mathematics and physical education and coached the girls and boys basketball teams at Central Preston Junior High School, earned his master's degree in educational administration from West Virginia University, was the assistant principal and the principal at Tunnelton-Denver Elementary School, and was the principal at Fellowsville Elementary School. He was very active with the Fellowsville High School Alumni. Don's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He was an avid sports fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Indiana Fever. Don often spent his weekends tending to his garden, canning fruits and vegetables for friends and family, and consuming science fiction media through movies and books. He was active in the Fellowsville Ruritan Club, volunteering at community events including the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. He was also active within the Office of District & School Improvement. Don never met a stranger. He will always be remembered for his kindness and determination to help everybody he possibly could. Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Flora Lea "Cricket" Post. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Dawn Michelle "Shelly" Bane (Post), his son-in-law Willis Anthony Bane, and his pride and joy, his two granddaughters Kylie Nicole Bane and Sydney Anne Bane. Don is also survived by his brothers Jeffery Jones and Lyndon (Sally) Jones, his sister Suzanne (Michael) Powers, and sister-in-law Lorene Post. Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother Dana Terry Post. He leaves many friends behind to cherish his memory.
