Donald "Duck" Paul Lyons

Donald “Duck” Paul Lyons, 85 of Newburg, WV passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1940 in Newburg, son of the late Vester “Dink” William and Oda Odell (Johnson) Lyons. Duck was a coal miner and truck driver for many years in Preston County, and was a steel worker for Good Construction before retiring in Virginia. He enjoyed working on cars, riding his motorcycle, playing cards with his family and friends, camping, trout fishing, hunting, wheeling and dealing on anything and everything. Duck is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Lou (Freeze) Lyons; four children, Charlotte Marie Curfiss (Dave), Spotsylvania, VA, Jeffery Paul Lyons (Melinda), Newburg, Christy Lynne Lyons, Morgantown, Jonathan Patrick Lyons (Amanda), Albright; ten grandchildren, Stefanie Poole, Cody Scott (Jessica), Kayla Scott (Dustin), Allison Gabriel (Brandon), Dylan Alborn (Rosemary), Colton Shahan (Jenna), Braeleigh Bennett, Donavan Lyons, Hayden Lyons, Gavin Lyons; nine great-grandchildren, Kyle, Trae, Axton, Dustin Jr., Kasen, Adessa, Ethan, Delilah, and Ozzie; two brothers, Richard Lyons (Debbie), Newburg, Roger Lyons (Alice), Scotch Hill Rd; two sisters, Connie Larew, Newburg, Darlene Adams, Independence; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Duck was preceded in death by his son, Donald “Punkin” Franklin Lyons in March 2025; two brothers, Albert Lyons, John Allen Lyons; five sisters, Charlene Taylor, Bonnie Sue Lyons, Gloria Jean Baylor, Margaret Barto and Judy Stockdale. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Friday, December 26, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 pm and on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 9:00 am until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Matlick, Pastor Delbert Lyons and Minister Dave Curfiss officiating .Interment will follow at the Shay’s Chapel Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to www.bolyardfuneralhomewv.
