Dora Pigott Obituary

Dora Evelyn (Waybright) Pigott, 94, of the Laurel Mountain community, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at her daughter’s residence, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 18, 1931, in Parsons, she was the daughter of the late Luther Lee and Sarah Ellen (Streets) Waybright. Dora lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the beauty of the outdoors. She worked faithfully throughout her years at Dutch’s Service Station, Sterling Faucet, and later at Cool Springs Park, where she spent many seasons doing what she loved most — being close to nature — before retiring.

Dora’s heart belonged to the mountains and streams she called home. She found joy in hunting at dawn, casting a fishing line into quiet waters, tending to her farm, and simply breathing in the fresh mountain air. The outdoors was not just her pastime; it was her sanctuary. Whether working the land or sitting beneath open skies, she felt closest to God in His creation.

Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Dora attended the Pentecostal Church in Rowlesburg, where her love for the Lord was evident in her gentle spirit, steadfast prayers, and unwavering belief. Her faith carried her through life’s joys and sorrows and was a foundation she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren. She trusted in God’s promises and lived with the quiet assurance of His presence.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Liston (Charles) of Tunnelton; seven grandchildren, Melanie Turner, Elaina Turner, Heidi Turner, Andrew Hudnall, David Hudnall, Jessica Hudnall, and Sarah Jenson; fifteen great-grandchildren, Carolina Turner, Devin Carkhuff,  Alexis Carkhuff, Brieanne Carkhuff, Jonathan Liston, Robert Hudnall, Jayce Jensen, Chad Jensen, and Emily Jensen, Analeigh Darr, Camden Darr, Matthew Hudnall, Hadyn Turner-Lumpkin, Dax Turner-Lumpkin, Bentley Turner_Lumpkin;  two great-great grandchildren, Paisleigh Cunningham, Hazel Carkhuff;  one brother, Calvin Waybright of Parson; one sister, Cora Nice of Bruceton Mills; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse Seldon Pigott; her daughters, Virginia Turner and Linda Hudnall (Dean); ten siblings, Carl Waybright, Raymond Waybright, Hoy Waybright, Troy Waybright, Melvin Waybright, Kenneth Waybright, Jimmy Waybright, Nora Helmick, Lela Pifer, and Bonnie Waybright; and five half-siblings, Ethel Nice, Sadie Smallwood, Mona Mann, Henry Waybright, and Burgess Waybright.

Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 3:00–7:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev.
