Douglas “Doug” Curt Bolyard, 60, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Born on December 28, 1965, in Kingwood, he was the son of the late Lewis Waitman and Jeanette Florence McCauley Bolyard.
Doug was a 1984 graduate of Central Preston High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He dedicated over 20 years of service to Fairmont General Hospital and was most recently employed at Walmart. Doug was known as a hardworking and dependable man, but above all, he was known for his kind heart and unwavering devotion to his family.
Being a father and “Pappy” was the greatest joy of Doug’s life. He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, always putting family first. Whether it was attending events, sharing stories, or simply enjoying time together, Doug’s love was constant and unconditional. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his three children: Krista Bolyard of Fairmont; Jeremy Bolyard (Olivia) of Lackawanna, NY; and Katelyn (Bolyard) Schelble (Charlie) of Springville, NY. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Riley, Theordore, Phillip, Emerson, and Alex, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Allen “Alpo” Bolyard of Evansville; one aunt, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his special aunt and uncle, Carol and Don Squires.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Delisa Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Shays Chapel Cemetery where full military honors being accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard. .
