Edna Rae (DeMoss) Maxwell

Edna Rae Maxwell 100, of Grand Island, FL formerly of Newburg, WV passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025.  She was born March 13, 1925 in Newburg, daughter of the late Earl DeMoss Sr and Gertrude Alberta Pell DeMoss. Edna graduated from Newburg High School. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a substitute postmaster for Newburg and Independence and also worked at the processing center in Clarksburg. She enjoyed going to her grandson’s softball games, watching college basketball games and trips to Dairy Queen. She is survived by her son, Richard A Maxwell (Eleanor), Grand Island, FL; two granddaughters, Michelle Berardinelli (Joe), Mobile, AL, Diana Marl (John) Sorrento, FL; one great grandson, Landon Maxwell Marl; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L “Dick” Maxwell whom she married on May 14, 1943 and passed on November 22, 2017; two brothers and six sisters.   Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm and on Monday, October, 20, 2025 from 10:30 am until time of service at 12:30 am with Pastor Delbert Lyons officiating.
