Franklin “Frank” Benjamin Johnson, 88 of Newburg, WV passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on July 7, 1935 in Old Borgman, Tunnelton, son of the late Edward Ray and Nellie Elizabeth (Jefferys) Johnson. Frank work as a coal miner and was a Federal Mine Inspector for thirty-three plus years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. Frank was a Founding Charter member of the Christian Evangelist Church and sang in the choir and solo. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Geraldine Mae (Haskiell) Johnson; four children, Sharon Kay Watkins and Paul, Tunnelton, Bonnie Jean Pratt and James, Leesburg, VA, Jackie Sue Wilson and Henry, Newburg, Frankie Gene Johnson, Newburg; eleven grandchildren, Wendy, Steven, Lori, Jason, Sheldon, Scott, Jeremy, Kristin, Matthew, Gregory and Kurtis; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Haskiell, Tunnelton, Dorlene Weaver, Zelienople, PA; one brother-in-law, James Haskiell and wife, Joy, Haines,City, FL; one sister-in-law, Agnes Johnson, Newburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Karen L (Grimes) Johnson; two brother, Jim Johnson, Edward Charles Johnson and two sisters, Lucille “Sis” Kephart, and Geraldine “Tiny” Root. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2 PM with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christian Evangelical Church, 8160 N Mountaineer Highway, Newburg, WV 26410.
