Freeman "Allen" Runner, Jr.

Freeman Allen Runner, Jr. 78 of Tunnelton, WV (Laurel Mountain Community) passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He was born on September 16, 1944 in Tunnelton, son of the late Freeman W. Runner Sr. and Lenora Hazel (Sigley) Runner. Allen graduated from Rowlesburg High School, Class of 1962. He retired from Matthews International (Bronze Plant) in Kingwood with forty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. Allen is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Ruby Kathleen (Dillsworth) Runner; two sons, Freeman “Albert” Runner III, Roy Runner; two daughters, Lisa (Runner) Napier and Mark, Rebecca “Becky” (Runner) Hudson and David, all of Tunnelton; six grandchildren, Sasha Tanner and Kyle, David Hudson II, Marcus Napier, Freeman Runner III, Emily Runner, Leaha Runner; two great-granddaughters, Braylon Tanner and Solara Tanner; one sister, Bonnie Jo Hemerick and Robert, Rowlesburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Allen is preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Thomas Runner and Gareth Lee Runner; one sister-in-law, Kathy Runner. Per Allen’s wishes he will be cremated.
