George Albert Lyons

George Albert Lyons, 84 of Arthurdale, WV passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born on February 9, 1942 in Newburg, son of the late James Albert and Bessie Juanita (Johnson) Lyons. George loved the outdoors, especially hunting ginseng and turkey hunting. He worked for many years in construction with Local #379 and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He also had a special place in his heart for his daughter and them watching movies and laughing. George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandy Sue (Colebank) Lyons, Arthurdale; one daughter, Tammy Sue Lyons, Arthurdale; one sister-in-law, Helen Diaz (Freddie), Michigan; one brother-in-law, Gene Colebank, Grafton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Marie Adams and Shirley Ann Wolfe, three brothers, James P Lyons, William L Lyons, and Ralph D Lyons. A graveside service will be held at Shay’s Chapel Cemetery on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 11:00 am for immediate family with Pastor Terry Hagedorn officiating.
