Harry Deward Bowman, 61, of Moatsville, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, while camping in Parsons surrounded by the people he loved most and doing what brought him joy. Born on August 24, 1964, in Kingwood, he was the son of the late Ralph Glenn and Dortha Arlene Stone Bowman.
Harry was a man whose hands rarely rested and whose heart was always devoted to his family. A gifted woodworker and skilled heavy equipment operator, he spent his life building — not only homes, projects, and machinery — but also a legacy of hard work, dependability, and love. If something was broken, Harry could fix it. If someone needed help, he was there without hesitation. Family, friends, and neighbors all knew they could count on him because he never turned away anyone in need.
More than anything, Harry cherished his family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, especially his grandsons, Reese and Rowan, who brought endless pride and joy to his life. Whether he was hunting in the woods, fishing by the water, tending his garden, camping under the stars, or simply tinkering in the garage, Harry found purpose in the simple things and in the people around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anastasia Pearson Bowman of Moatsville; two sons, Luke Bowman and wife Toni of Cambridge, Ohio, and Clint Bowman and wife Ashley of Friendsville, Maryland; two beloved grandsons, Reese and Rowan; two brothers, Michael Glenn Bowman of Tunnelton and Gary Allen Bowman and wife Linda of South Fork, Colorado; three sisters, Patricia Ann Miller of Moatsville, Diana Lynn Hovatter of Virginia, and Rita Sue Bowman of Moatsville; one sister-in-law, Theresa Blackwood and husband Andy of Florida; one brother-in-law, Mario Pearson of Missouri; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his nephew, Christopher Allen Bowman; sister-in-law, Connie Bowman; brothers-in-law, David Miller and Dennis Hovatter; and several aunts and uncles.
Though his family’s hearts are heavy with loss, they will forever carry the memories of a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and could build almost anything with his hands. Harry’s strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Avenue, Newburg, WV, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m., with a time of sharing to honor Harry’s life and memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his Care Fund on his memorial page.
