Helen “Kay” Shannon, 82 of Tunnelton, WV passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at her residence with family by her side. She was born on August 6, 1941 in Tunnelton, daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Virginia Dare (Keller) Grimm. Kay worked at Howesville Head Start as Cook and Janitor, was Mayor of Tunnelton. She was a member of the Tunnelton VFW Auxiliary with over twenty-five years. She was an EMT with the Tunnelton Ambulance Service. Kay loved bowling, gardening, her flowers and being outdoors. She is survived by her companion of thirty years plus, Harry Andrew Bolyard; one son, Curtis Dale Shannon and Connie, Tunnelton; three grandchildren, Tyler Shannon and Cortney, Reedsville, Justin Shannon and Stacey, Tunnelton, and Andrew Shannon and Lori, Reedsville; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Shannon and Foster Shannon; four step-children, Harry Lee “Hot Rod” Bolyard, Brian Keith Bolyard, Carmen Dawn Bolyard, Matthew Michael Bolyard, and one grandson, Gunner Ray Bolyard; six siblings, James Arthur Grimm and Shirley, Sebring, OH, Judith Strawser, Tunnelton, Linda Rager, Tunnelton, Jerry Lynn Grimm and Bonnie, Tunnelton, Walter Lee Grimm and Joellyn, Alpine Lake and Jackie Kelley and Pat, Tunnelton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by Foster “Foss” Shannon; one son, Foster “Bill” Shannon; one grandson, Lucas Clay Shannon; two sisters, Dorena Moats and Shirley Kitzmiller. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave, Newburg, WV on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor Bill Warnick officiating.
