Herbert "Neil" Clarkson Obituary

Herbert Neil Clarkson, 85 of Fellowsville passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Mansfield Place in Philippi, WV. He was born on March 28, 1939 at home in Fellowsville, son of the late William Earl Clarkson Sr. and Mildred Loreen (Thomas) Clarkson. Neil graduated from Fellowsville High School, Class of 1957. He served in the United States Army and was station in Korea. Neil retired with thirty plus years from Sterling Faucet, and seven years as a custodian at Rowlesburg School for the Preston County Board of Education. He was a volunteer at the Fellowsville Volunteer Fire Department and was known as the sausage maker. Neil was also a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church and was the custodian at the church for many years. He was a past secretary for Mount Zion Cemetery Association. He loved farming and spending time with his family and friends especially he and Linda making road trips for many life activities. Neil is survived by one son, Craig Terrill Clarkson and Rhonda, Newburg; one daughter, Deanna Rae Clarkson, Inwood, WV; one grandson, Elijah Leach; one granddaughter, Adrianna Bickley and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Holly; one sister, Betty Hamilton and Terry, two sisters-in-law, Linda Clarkson and Willa "Joane" Clarkson; two brothers-in-law, Kevin Hamilton and Diane all of Fellowsville; and Adrian Wolfe of Laurel Mountain Community; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Lana Beth (Hamilton) Clarkson; two brothers, William "Earl" Clarkson, Jr. and Paul Clarkson; one brother-in-law, Norman Lane Hamilton, two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Ann Hamilton and Kathy Wolfe. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Friday, April 19, 2024 from 3-7pm and Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9am until time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor Margie Waybright officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery where full military honors being accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
