James “Jim” Edward Larew Sr, 78 of Newburg, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1944 in Newburg, son of the late Ronald “Pete “Ray and Virginia Mae “Adams” Larew. Jim graduated from Newburg High School, Class of 1962. James worked in the timber business for most of his life, but he was a “Jim” of all trades. He had a hand in running several successful family owned businesses including Larew Lumber Company and the Scotch Hill Dairy Bar. The most important thing he did was devote his life to God and his family. Jim was the Superintendent and Sunday School teacher at York Run Church for many years. He raised three beautiful children along side his wife of fifty-four years. Jim loved spending time with his family especially his grandbabies. He enjoyed working on his farm, camping, fishing and hunting. In his later years, he would spend his evenings playing cards, Yahtzee, and dominos with his wife, Wilma. Jim is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean “Brown” Larew; three children, James "Eddie" Larew Jr. and Beverly, Melissa "Missy" Bowmar and Blain, Crystal Nestor and Allen all of Newburg; four grandchildren, Jacklyn “Jackie” Annon and Stanley, Lylah, Emma and Jacob Nestor; four sisters-in-law, Connie A Larew, Alberta Curry and husband, Roger, Anita Goff and husband, Lewis, Rita Murray and husband, Matthew; two brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Brown, all of Newburg, Mike Swisher, Fellowsville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Larew, and two in infancy, David Lee and Donald Ray Larew; one sister-in-law, Donna Swisher. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 2 pm-7pm and on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the York Run Church, 1601 Herm Criss Road Tunnelton, WV from 11AM until time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with the Pastor Richard Bolyard officiating.
