Jerry Wayne Newlon, 67 of Moatsville, originally from Grafton, WV passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1953, son of the late Martin Newlon and Virginia Sommerville. Jerry graduated from Grafton High School in 1971. He was employed by Rex Hide until the time of retirement. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and spent his free time farming, riding horses, hunting, fishing, and sitting on the porch with his loving dogs, Beau, Lady Bird, Linda, Sis and Rosie. However, his favorite past time was spending time with his family. Jerry was an amazing husband, father, father in law, friend and brother but he was the greatest pappy in the world and wore that title proudly. Jerry was a kind and gentle soul and never knew a stranger. In addition to the love of his life, Marilyn (Grouse), he was survived by his sons, Sam Newlon and wife Mary, Grafton; Josh and partner Daisy, Grafton; step-daughter Erin Poe, Moatsville; grandson, Hunter, granddaughters, Emili, Leah, Gemma, and Katie; two brothers, Joe Newlon and wife Carol, Terry Newlon and partner Tish, one sister, Margaret Johns, sister in law, Tena Newlon along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Jim Newlon and brother in law Tommy Johns. Per Jerry’s wishes he will be cremated, and a private memorial will be held at a later date for friends and family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Hospice, the support and guidance meant the world to us all.
