John William Spiker, Sr., 83 of Tunnelton, WV passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Grafton City Hospital with family by his side. He was born on April 26, 1941 in Oakland, MD, son of the late John Wriston Pratt and Violet Marie (Spiker) Miller. John spent time as a coalminer and in construction most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working in the garage, yard selling, hitting up flea markets, goodwill, telling stories, and cracking jokes. He especially loved spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids. He was also a gun enthusiast and enjoyed running heavy equipment. John is survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Edith Geraldine (Sapp) Spiker; John William Spiker Jr (Jalinda), Howesville, Harry Spiker (Sandra), Kingwood, Rodney Spiker and lifelong companion Wendy, Tunnelton; six grandchildren, John William Spiker III (Kara), Shantel Persinger (Jeremy), Sabrina Spiker, Jalina Spiker, Selina Spiker, Brianna Taylor (Joseph); four great grandchildren, Maverick, Jensen, Liam and Hudson; his beloved dogs, Nova and Sassy; three siblings, Connie Dewitt, Albright, Sandra Fazenbaker, Morgantown, Worley Miller Jr (Tammy), Kingwood; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one grandson, Noah Daniel Spiker; eleven siblings, Floss Simms, Ruby Mason, Russell “Bud” Miller, Maxine Carr, Freda Santangelo, Debbie Miller, Junior Miller, Delmas Miller, Geraldine, Larue, Pamela Miller and Bonnie Kohn. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave, Newburg, WV on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm with Bishops Robert and Paul Bolyard officiating .
