Lucas Clay Shannon, 22 of Tunnelton, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020. He was born November 4, 1997, in Morgantown, son of Curtis Dale and Connie Sue Layton Shannon, Tunnelton. Lucas graduated from Preston High School Class of 2016. He had worked as a coal miner for Dana Mining and Leer Mining. He was currently an Electrician with Maxwell Electric. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his side by side, Nascar, Mountaineer Basketball and Football, and hanging out with his friends. In addition to his parents, Lucas is survived by one brother, Tyler Shannon and Cortney, Reedsville and their fur baby, Gracie; paternal grandmother, Helen Kay Grimm Shannon, Tunnelton; one uncle, Jerry Robert “Jay” Jr and Cynthia Layton, Tunnelton; one aunt, Carla Layton and Paula, Arthurdale; three cousins, Samantha Powell and Anthony, Tunnelton, Justin Shannon and Stacey, Tunnelton and Andrew Shannon and Lori, Reedsville; second cousins, Malik, Zander, Gracelynn Powell, Willow Layton, Aubrey Shannon and Foster Shannon; his four legged pomeranian. Buster. Lucas was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry Sr. and Shirley Bolyard Layton, paternal grandfather, Foster E Shannon, one uncle, Foster “Bill” Shannon; his cousin, Joshua Lee Layton. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 2pm-8pm, and Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 9am until time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor David Biggins officiating.
