Lucy Virginia “Nanny” and “Ginny” Larew, 76, of Independence, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 1, 1949, in Preston County, a cherished daughter of the late William and Winnie Funkhouser Lipscomb.
“Nanny,” as she was lovingly known, lived a life centered on family, kindness, and simple joys. She worked at Chuck’s Store in Newburg and spent many years at Ivandale Restaurant in Grafton, where her warm spirit and friendly nature touched countless lives. She found happiness in tending to her flowers, crocheting, traveling, and shopping, and took great pride in decorating her yard each Christmas season. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her family and friends, who were the heart of her world.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: her son, Robert “Bobby” Junior Zuchowski and his companion Yvonne “Cookie” Wilson of Newburg; her daughter, Roxane “Roxie” Zuchowski of Morgantown; her grandchildren, Shelby Tasker and husband Jasper and Austin Zuchowski; and her great-grandchildren, Parker Allen Everly and Ella Rose Tasker. She is also survived by her siblings, Charlotte Weaver of Grafton, Freddie Bucklew (Julie) of Mansfield, TN, and Tucker Henderson (Norma) of Independence, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert “Duke” Larew; her beloved companion, Robert “Bob” Zuchowski; her infant daughter, Kimberly Dawn; her sister, Janet Ruth Bolyard; her brother, Billy Lipscomb; and her nephew, Vernon Bolyard.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, WV, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 3:00–7:00 pm and again on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 10:00 am with Pastor Nick Bolyard officiating. Interment will be at Shay's Chapel Cemetery.
Though her passing leaves a deep void, the love, warmth, and memories she shared will continue to live on in all who knew her. Online condolences may be sent to www.bolyardfuneralhomewv.com. Bolyard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Larew family.
