Margaret Irene "Aunt Rene" Workman

Margaret “Aunt Rene” Irene Workman, 96 of Independence, WV, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Barbour County, on September 10, 1925, daughter of the late Roy Allen and Bertha Maud “Beckner” Bowman. Irene worked at Hopemont Hospital in her younger years in the laundry. She enjoyed going ginseng hunting in her younger years.  Irene always was a hard worker and enjoyed good company. She was a member of the Solid Rock Church in Newburg. Irene is survived by one hundred and three nieces and nephews including one nephew whom she raised, Ott “Cricket” Jennings Hall; and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Ott Workman in 1969; five brothers, Charles Joseph, David, Carl “Slick”, William Orion, Ivan Jenning “Pete”; four sisters, Mary Stump, Eugena Bowman, Loretta “Lou” Hall and Kathryn Sharp.  Family will receive friends at Bolyard Funeral Home on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 3-7 PM and, October 22, 2021 from 11AM until time of service at 2PM with Pastor Delbert Lyons officiating.
