Mary Ann Williams, 88, of Cherry Run Road in Grafton, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her son’s home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on March 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Breedlove Nuzum. A proud graduate of Grafton High School’s Class of 1956, Mary Ann spent her life rooted deeply in the hills and fields she loved so dearly.
Mary Ann was the definition of a hardworking country woman. Alongside her beloved husband, Bill, she devoted her life to farming and helping build their family dairy farm from the ground up. Long days, early mornings, muddy boots, and worn hands were simply part of who she was. After Bill’s passing, Mary Ann never slowed down. With her son Billy by her side, she continued working the farm on Cherry Run Road, raising beef cattle and caring for the land that meant so much to her.
She found joy in the simple and honest things of life — a good garden, warm sunshine, freshly baled hay, and fences sturdy enough to keep the cows where they belonged. Farming was never just work to Mary Ann; it was her way of life, her pride, and her legacy.
In later years, she also enjoyed working with her daughter Susan and son-in-law Stanley at Allegheny Treenware. She treasured being part of the creativity and craftsmanship there and became deeply loved by everyone she worked beside. Her kindness, humor, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Above everything else, Mary Ann loved her family fiercely. Her home, her heart, and her life were always open to those she loved. She was the last of her immediate family, but the strength, warmth, and love she carried will continue on through the generations she helped raise and nurture.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, William C. “Billy” Williams and his companion Stephanie; grandsons, Dillon and Garrett Williams; Stephanie’s children Tyler, Chloe, Matthew, and Alyzin; daughter, Susan Williams Jennings and husband Stanley; granddaughter, Brandy Jennings Shrout; great-grandson, Easton Williams; great-granddaughter Ellie; sister-in-law, Roxanne Nuzum and niece, Sara Nuzum Calhoun; nephews Richard, Butchie, and Michael Nuzum; and nieces Samantha and Tammy Nuzum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Warren Williams; brothers, Doug and Butch Nuzum; granddaughter, Berry Jennings Ranier; and her cherished niece, Deborah Lynn Nuzum.
Family and friends will be received at McConkey Church, 2415 Cherry Run Road, Grafton, WV on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Chaplain Dennis Lusin officiating.
