Michael H. Bowman, Sr., age 70, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on April 27, 1955, he was a son of the late Earl Bell and Mary (Shetzler) Bowman, Sr. Michael spent the majority of his career working at American Mirrex in Delaware City for 28 and half years. In his later years, he was employed by the Town of Middletown as a municipal worker. Michael was a life member of the Volunteer Hose Company in Middletown and a free mason at Lafayette Lodge No. 14 in Wilmington.
Michael was an avid sports fan; on any given day you could always catch him watching any and all sports. Though, his heart never strayed far from his beloved San Francisco 49ers. Michael loved to spend time and play cards with lifelong friends on Friday nights that on occasion, turned into early Saturday mornings. He enjoyed spending time with family at the beach for many years. Most recently, Michael spent the majority of his time with his two grandchildren, Maycee and Hunter, who he deeply loved and adored.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Diamelen Sue (Bolyard) Bowman; brother, Earl Jr.; sisters, Brenda, Cathy, and Patti; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Phillip Bolyard. He is survived by his sons, Michael H. Bowman Jr. (Katie), and Brad Bowman; brother, Kevin Bowman (Peggy); brothers-in-law, Donald Bolyard Sr. (Sandy) and Tony Smith; 2 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately, as he will be laid to rest at K.P. Bolyard Cemetery in Fellowsville, West Virginia, alongside his wife.
