Rebecca Jean (Triplett) Born Riley

Rebecca Jean Born Riley, 93 of Independence, WV (Gladesville community) passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at her residence. She was born on November 17, 1932 in Independence, daughter of the late John Adams and Ruby Viola Triplett Ash (Sam). She graduated from Newburg High School, Class of 1951. Rebecca worked in accounting her entire life at Southern States in Sabraton and at the WVU Physical Plant with over 30 plus years of service. She loved crocheting, making doilies, doing jigsaw puzzles on her iPad. Rebecca was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gladesville, WV. Rebecca collected anything with butterflies. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann Nicholson, Independence; three stepsons and spouses, Robert R. Riley Jr (Norva), Graham, Russell J. Riley (Debra), Tunnelton,  John A. Riley (Delisa), Tunnelton; two stepdaughters and spouses, E. Jean Christo (Monty) Mesa, AZ, and Kathryn A. Lyons, (Delbert) Tunnelton;  two grandchildren, Kristoffer Nicholson (Michelle), Independence, Amanda Bucklew (Clayton “Bucky”), Independence; four great grandchildren, Victoria, Isabella, Ruby and Augustus; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; her four-legged companion, Junior her dog. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Rebecca was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Ray Born and second husband, Robert Riley and one grandson, Frederick Shaffer; one stepson, Franklin Bruce Riley.
