Rev. Rodney Niles Phillips, Sr., 90 of Tunnelton, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1930 in Tunnelton, son of the late Ernest and Elsie Miller Phillips. Rodney graduated from Tunnelton High School. He worked as a factory worker for Sterling Faucet in 1948, Furniture Factory in Reedsville, plus several Coal Companies and in 1950 he worked at Allison Detroit Diesel in Indianapolis, IN. Then after retiring in 1980 he moved back Tunnelton, WV, his hometown. He then started Pastoring several Methodist Churches in Preston County before he became the Pastor for York Run United Methodist Church for 25 years from May 10, 1985 to June 27, 2010. Rodney is survived by four sons, Rodney Niles Phillips Jr and Wanda, Redfield, AR; Richard Allan Phillips and Kathryn, Vienna IL, James Ernest Phillips, Woodstock, VA, Donald Harlen Phillips, Chicago, IL; one daughter, Roxann K Shipley and Joseph, Morgantown, IN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Cline and Jim, PA. In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his dear loving wife, Dolores Luvern Phillips in 2018, one son, David Wayne Phillips; one daughter, Billie Lee Phillips; one brother, Clifton Phillips; one sister, Phyllis Phillips. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 3-7pm and Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 9am until time of service at 11am with Pastor Ronald Funk officiating with proper distancing and face mask required.
