Richard Dare Danks

Richard Dare Danks, age 88, of Newburg, WV, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the residence of his son.  He was born March 31, 1936, a son of the late Frank Sherden Danks and Flodie (Pratt) Danks. His wife , Betty Louise (Kisner) Danks, preceded him in death November 29, 2021.

Richard was born in Newburg, WV, the 9th of 10 children including Theodore, Dominic, Alberta, Algaina, Dicie, James, Lantz, Cameron and Darlene. He was graduate of Newburg High School. He was a farmer and had previously worked as a coal miner.  He attended Independence Baptist Church and was a Christian by faith.

Surviving are: three sons, David Danks, John Danks and wife Catherine, and Daniel Danks and wife Shawna Danks, all of Newburg; and five daughters, Mary Fizer and husband Willie, of Kingwood, Doris Danks, Newburg and Sueellen Dillsworth, Kingwood , Linda Danks, Howesville, WV, and Joanna Neel and husband Walter, of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Tammy Rowlette and husband Robert, Emily Bunner and husband Caleb, Willie Fizer IV, Chloe Fizer, Mark Fizer, Patrick Deavers, Joshlynn Deavers , Justin Deavers, Dominic Deavers, Luke Deavers, Kaylie Sisler, Randy Knotts, Jr., James Deavers, Cassie Deavers, Brittany Amber Stevens and husband Luke, Ryan Alan Dillsworth and wife Crislyn; Isaac Smelter, Cassidy Simmons; Jennifer Lytle, Natasha Brieghner, and Ronald Davis, Jr; great grandchildren, Joshlynn Deavers, Kenier Deavers, Ariana Hovatter, Jade McCormick, Michael Hovatter, Serenity Hovatter, Emma Dillsworth, Easton Dillsworth, and Abigal Grace Smeltzer.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by: two grandsons, Aaron Fizer and Carl Junior Deavers, and two granddaughters, Taylor Benson, and Opal Joy Stevens.

Friends may call at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, WV, on Friday, February 21st from 9 am until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11am, at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Cumberland officiating. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery.
