Robert “Bob” Dewayne Burke, 85, of Reedsville, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 6, 1940, in Kingwood, a son of the late Russel Pearl and Edith Lucille (Hill) Burke. Bob was a proud graduate of Kingwood High School, Class of 1958. He dedicated 31½ years of hard work to Jennmar as a Bolt Press Operator before retiring.
Bob gave much of himself to his community, serving on the Reedsville Town Council for sixteen years and as Mayor for ten years. He found great joy in farming and putting up hay, and in the simple pleasures of life—deer hunting, dirt track racing, and tending to his garden.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Alda “Cookie” (Barto) Burke; his children, R. Eugene Burke (Sheila) of Gladesville and Lisa R. Myers (Rick) of Arthurdale; his grandchildren, Joshua Burke (Danyelle), Jozie Burke, Rebecca Myers, and Matthew Myers; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Audrianna, Abel, and Ezekiel. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Burke of Reedsville, a very good friend, Jean Wagner; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Clark (Miles); his infant brother, Clarence Ralph Burke; and his sister-in-law, Catherine Burke.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, WV, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 pm, and on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until the funeral service at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Josh Burke officiating. Interment will follow at Damon Cemetery.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Camille and Robin, for the compassion, love, and care shown to Bob.
