Thomas "Tom" Albert Swisher

Thomas “Tom” A. Swisher, 69 of Newburg, WV passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his residence with family and friends by his side. He was born on January 1, 1955 in Atlantic, GA, son of the late Allen (Al) Keith Swisher and Margaret Leota (Boylen) Barker. His step-mother, Kay Swisher, Denver. Tom graduated from Grafton High School. Tom was a member of the CEC-The Gospel Lighthouse in Birds Creek, serve on the Board, sang in the Choir and loved mowing the grass with Brenda at the church. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, doing woodworking, working on chainsaw and weed eater. He had retired as a coal miner from White Tail. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Kay (Hawkins) Swisher, Newburg; two children, Matthew Hovatter, Arthurdale and Chanda Kish, FL; two grandchildren, Austin and Traytin  Hovatter, Arthurdale; two brothers, Lawrence Swisher (Melissa) Wheeling, Edward Swisher (Millie) SC; two nieces, Hermiety Van Laar (Grant), Miranda Cox (Lucas); one nephew, Jebb Swisher (Kerrigan); two great grandchildren, Gracie and Finley; two uncles, William Boylen, Morgantown, Carl Boylen, Arthurdale; one brother-in-law, Olaf Frank Hawkins Jr (Ellen) Newburg; three sisters-in-law, Becky Morrison, FL, Joyce Bolyard (Charles) Newburg, and Debra Hawkins, Newburg. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Shirley Adams (Bill) and Janet Lipscomb; one brother-in-law, Jack Hawkins. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 3-7PM and on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the CEC-The Gospel Lighthouse, at Birds Creek from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Matlick and Pastor Carl Trickett officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery, Dogtown Road.
