Willa “Joane” (Laulis) Clarkson, 92 of Fellowsville, WV passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at her residence. She was born on May 23, 1933 in Clemtown, daughter of the late Willie “Bill” Duckworth Laulis and Glendoline (Mitchell) Laulis. Joane graduated from Philippi High School. She worked for the Preston County Board of Education as a teacher’s aide and retired from Kingwood Elementary. She was a Member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, the Sandy Creek CEOS where she was a reporter for several years, Sandy Pals 4-H Club where she was an Assistant Leader. She enjoyed sewing, embordering, painting and gardening. Joane is survived by her two sons, William “Matthew” Clarkson (Tracey), Cecil Aaron Clarkson (Cheryl) all of Fellowsville, four grandchildren, Emma E Rankin, William A “Bill” Clarkson (Tori), Miranda Osborne (Shane) and Makenzi Moon; three great-grandchildren, Tate Rankin, Everli Osborne and Jerimiah Osborne; four siblings, Mackey Laulis (Shirley), Philippi, Shirley Freeman (Lowell) Moatsville, Kenneth Laulis (Missy), Belington, Ruth Freeman (Milton), Philippi; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joane is preceded in death by her husband, William “Earl” Clarkson, Jr. in 2017; and one brother, Gerald Duane Laulis. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm, and at Mount Zion United Methodist Church on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the service at 2:00 pm with the Pastor Margie Waybright and Pastor Nick Bolyard. Interment will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery.
