William "Bill" Hibbs Obituary

William “Bill” Earl Hibbs, 67 of Independence, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at his home in Independence, after a three-year battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He was born on October 20, 1951, in Morgantown, WV, son of Bettie Shackelford Hibbs McBee of Newburg, and the late Earl Clark Hibbs. Bill graduated from Newburg High School, Class of 1969, where he was active in basketball, baseball and band. He entered the Army in February 1973. While in the service he earned the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Medal. Bill married Stephanie Engle on July 7, 1973, at the Independence Baptist Church in Independence. After leaving the Army in 1976, Bill worked in the Morgantown area for several years and attended West Virginia Career College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Business Management in 1982. He worked for Superior Fibers in Reedsville for over thirty six years as Production Manager and Information Technologist. Bill was a Safety Officer for IDPA and the president of the Damon Cemetery Association for 20 years. In addition to his Mother, Bill is survived by his loving wife of forty five years, Stephanie L Engle Hibbs; two children and their spouses, Kimlynn Hibbs Woods and David, Independence,   Clark “C.W.” Hibbs and Heather, Grafton;  two grandchildren, Zane and Henry Woods, Independence; one sister and spouse, Regina Ann Harris and James, Newburg; one brother and spouse, David Hibbs and Deborah, Newburg, several nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Friday, April 12, 2019 from 2-8pm, and Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 9am until time of service at 12 Noon with Pastor Carl Trickett officiating. Interment will follow at Damon Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Col. Rowan Post 2345, Preston County Chapter 977, Vietnam Veterans of America and the Preston County Honor Guard.
